How to Take Care of Your Skin in Summer?

Stepping into the heat from air-conditioned surroundings and vice versa, excessive exposure to the sunlight, swimming to stay cool and the humidity can adversely affect your skin. The good news is you can restore your skin’s natural balance, lustre, and ensure good health by taking good care of your skin. Follow a regular skincare routine by using certain skincare products that are mentioned below and achieve glowing skin even during summer.  

1.Sunscreens

Sunscreens are one of the most important skincare products that you just can’t do without. Their importance is undebatable for all the goodness they bless us with and all the skin damage they protect us from. A good sunscreen with SPF 30-50 is vital for the summer months for all skin types, even if you stay indoors most of the time. 

2.Antioxidants

Antioxidants are honestly far more essential to have in a summer skin care routine than they are credited for. They fight the skin damaging free radicals that excess sun exposure and pollution (among other factors) can form on your skin. “Vitamin C serum is a good option for a summer skincare routine. It is beneficial during summer. Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant, a free radical scavenger that protects your skin from oxidant-induced damages and helps in reducing the pigmentation caused by harmful UV rays.”

3.Moisturizers

Summer heat tends to leave your skin dehydrated and looking dull and lacklustre and hence it is of utmost importance that you give it all the hydration it needs, even if you have oily skin. Include a moisturiser in both your morning and night skin care regime—throughout the year in fact.You can choose a non-greasy formula based on your skin type. But look for ingredients like antioxidants like vitamins A and C. If it has SPF, even better. It is best to apply a moisturizer immediately after your bath.

4.Exfoliants

The primary job of exfoliants (both physical and chemical) is to remove dead skin cells and other pore-clogging impurities from the skin. Therefore, there is no reason as to why you shouldn’t exfoliate your skin in summers as well. Use a face scrub at least twice a week to remove excess dirt and oil from the skin. Make sure you exfoliate the lips and the neck too.

5.Hydrate

Hydration is a key, at all times during summer. You can use a hydrating face mask after you wash your face at night for some extra hydration while you sleep. Splash your face frequently with water or carry a facial mist to freshen your skin at regular intervals.

6.Toners

A good toner can be effective in closing open pores. The maximum number of sebaceous glands are found on the T-zone of the face. To prevent sweat and oil from clogging these pores, use an aloe vera or cucumber-based toner as they are lighter.
